MSc (Chinese Herbal Medicine), BSc (Hons) Acupuncture, MBAcC, MRCHM

My name is Alison and I live and work in Lincoln, UK. I was born and raised here in this beautiful, little known city. I know I’m biased, but it really is a hidden gem, we have the best cathedral in the world!

I am a Chinese medicine practitioner, specialising in acupuncture, herbal medicine, yang sheng and reflexology. You will find me here at Eight Branches Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine. I love what I do, it’s a vocation for me, not a job, and I’m passionate about supporting people to restore their balance. I can’t imagine being anything else, and I intend to do this for the rest of my life! I have a longstanding interest in the philosophy of Chinese Medicine: the power of the body to heal itself, and the understanding that the body and mind are entities which cannot be separated. Creating harmony and balance within body/mind facilitates healing and allows health to be restored.

After experiencing first-hand the truly enhancing benefits of acupuncture when going through an impactful period of severe anxiety, I seized an unmissable opportunity to change the direction of both my life and career. Having been offered a place at Northern College of Acupuncture in York, and after 3 years of full-time study I graduated with a first class honours degree. Fast forward a few years, and a new ‘branch’ was added to the Chinese medicine tree when a chance arose to further my learning by studying herbs at post-graduate level. This resulted in an MSc, which investigated the effects of Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment of depression. Followed more recently by an OHTM Level 5 Diploma in Applied Reflexology for Integrated Medicine. This came about after being inspired by a patient, who was unable to have her beloved acupuncture sessions during chemotherapy. As a form of acupressure this means that anyone can benefit from the healing benefits of acupuncture, but without the needles.

As someone who is genuinely interested in people, I strive to ensure your visit is a comfortable and positive experience, receiving outstanding care. Eight Branches provides a welcoming, non-clinical, relaxing space for people to experience the benefits of acupuncture, herbal medicine and reflexology. You are guaranteed a compassionate, warm approach and will be listened to without judgement. With one person per appointment time, you will receive full attention for the duration. Leaving plenty of time between appointments to ensure neither of us feel rushed, the focus is firmly on you. Whether you are seeking relief from pain, chronic conditions, or simply to maintain good health and wellbeing, I love nothing more than to see people improve their quality of life and balance restored.

As a member of the British Acupuncture Council, the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine and the Association of Reflexologists, you are assured of a practitioner who is fully compliant with all relevant UK health and safety legislation. You are also guaranteed adherence to a strict code of safe and professional conduct and a commitment to ongoing training and development.
