Alison Seymour

MSc (Chinese Herbal Medicine), BSc (Hons) Acupuncture, MBAcC, MRCHM.

Alison has a longstanding interest in the philosophy of Chinese Medicine: the power of the body to heal itself, and the belief that the body and mind are entities which cannot be separated. Creating harmony and balance within body/mind, allows health to be restored. After experiencing first-hand the life-enhancing benefits of acupuncture, Alison seized an opportunity to change her career. She was offered a place at Northern College of Acupuncture in York, and after 3 years of full-time study she graduated with a first class honours degree. Fast forward a few years, and a new opportunity arose to further her learning by studying herbs at post-graduate level, adding another ‘branch’ to the Chinese medicine tree! Her commitment to the study of this wonderful approach to health and well-being continues. She has recently completed an MSc, investigating the effects of Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment of depression. As someone who is genuinely interested in people, Alison strives to ensure your visit is a comfortable and positive experience.

She has a genuine desire to see people improve their quality of life and a wish to provide a nurturing environment where balance can be restored. She has a compassionate and warm approach, taking her time to listen to what is being said. She firmly believes in outstanding quality of care and leaves plenty of time between appointments to ensure neither her clients, nor herself, feel rushed. As she only treats one person per appointment time this also means you receive her full attention for the duration. Eight Branches provides a welcoming, non-clinical, relaxing space for people to experience the benefits of acupuncture and herbal medicine.

Whether you are seeking relief from pain, chronic conditions, or simply to maintain good health and wellbeing, it offers the perfect complement to mainstream healthcare. Acupuncture has a role to play in many health conditions and can be very effective on its own. However, for those who prefer other strategies, herbs may be used to restore health or relief from pain. For those who also wish to try herbs alongside acupuncture, this offers an enhanced dimension by providing an active daily intervention to restore balance more effectively.

As a member of the British Acupuncture Council and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine you are assured of a practitioner who is fully compliance with all relevant UK health and safety legislation. You are also guaranteed adherence to a strict code of safe and professional conduct and a commitment to ongoing training and development.
